Oh yes I am. I can't say I feel as amped as my good buddy Chev Chelios do, but I'm back from my intense adrenaline dump. One of the reasons for that come back was that I scheduled another Fight Quest in six weeks so I can have adrenaline flowing again. I'm a body savvy dude (almost).
After this week's episode of "Law Of The Gun", I realized a few things. First of all, I'm pulling it out. The ending I mean. I told myself I was going to close up shop on this one after 25 episodes and so far so good. I'm on target. This is still an exercice in automatic writing for me, but I'm putting all my elements on the board for a final showdown I would probably need three or four episodes to do. I better get started next week.
Another thing that is quite apparent is that most of my character cast is pretty weak. I'm going out of my way to include Brandon Vickers in the story and Jill, despite being at the center, doesn't have any real purpose without her father present. In fact, Salvatore D'Ambrosio, Mike Penske and Walter Tatum revealed themselves as being the three Alpha Males of that cast. They are shining brighter than the others when they are around. I'm pondering making the final showdown about these three.
Even if it's a little bit of wankery, I don't regret doing "Law Of The Gun". I has been a terrific exercice in character creation and character development. I should have followed Nancy Kress's advice to run my cast through auditions first. It's a very good way to input an interesting point of view and a character that doesn't run out of steam after a few dozen pages. In a way, "Solace" has benefited from "Law Of The Gun". My character cast is a lot stronger and I feel can lead me a lot further.
I still can't write a feminine point of view to save my life though. Jill had my hopes up, but fell flat. D'Arcy, from "Solace" seems to be a part of the solution though.
