* This is the first draft of my novel's pitch. Any kind of comments on it are welcome. *
Every teenager has an impossible love. For most of the young males in Shelter and for Charles West, she was named Ashley Weaver. Dynamic, strong, funny and a crushing beauty, Ashley had her little world in the palm of her hand.
When she was murdered, along with her parents, she became a ghost for the whole community of Shelter. For Charles, the hole is bigger than for everybody else. As the only "State-Care" kid in town, it's a part of his life that dies along with his childhood friend. Facing mind-numbing solitude and the accusations of a whole town, Charlie will try to find a meaning to the death of Ashley.
His friend has an extensive history of scorned ex-pretenders that all had felt like they had unfinished business with the girl. During his investigation, Charles will go at the heart of a troubled boomtown and discover issues even greater than he could imagine. Shelter's motto is : "We take care care of our own" and its proud, upstanding citizens make sure that the grass stays green and that the secrets stay buried.
