A song for Ronnie James Dio...

This is a sad day for any person that ever took interest in heavy metal music. Ronnie James Dio, frontman extordinaire of Rainbow, Black Sabbath, his own band Dio and many more has passed away on May 16th at 7:45 AM after a long and painful battle with cancer. His wife Wendy broke the news on RJD's website yesterday:

Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.

- Wendy Dio

Ronnie James Dio will be forever remembered by metalheads as an amazing vocalist that had a love for theatrical performance. He sang about night creatures, demons and elves, but also about life, love and death. He was a passionate and inspiring person and he will be deeply missed. I posted a live version of "Rainbow In The Dark" one of my favorite songs, because I wanted you to see how great of a performer hew as. I had the luck to see him live with Iron Maiden and Motorhead at the Bell Center in 2003 and I realize now how lucky I have been.

Have a safe trip Ronnie and thank you for the music!
