Bad Religion - I Want To Conquer The World

Here it is, the big day. Today it's Fight Quest, which has been giving me panic attacks for a month now (not really, but the stress level got up there you know?) So, in order to give me courage and rock the hell out of your Saturday morning, here's an inspirational song from one of my favorite bands, Bad Religion.

These old punkers are renowned to rock the harmonies and for their uplifting lyrics that makes you want to fight and liberate a country. To me, they embody punk spirit in an age where it's been hijacked by teenagers with emotions. *shudders*...ugh...emotions.

Bad Religion - I Want To Conquer The World

Hey Brother Christian with your high and mighty errand
Your actions speak so loud I can't hear a word you're saying
Hey Sister Bleeding Heart with all of your compassion
Your labours soothe the hurt but can't assuage temptation

Hey man of science with your perfect rules of measure
Can you improve this place with the data that you gather?
Hey Mother Mercy can your loins bear fruit forever?
Is your fecundity a trammel or a treasure?

And I wanna conquer the world
Give all the idiots a brand new religion
Put an end to poverty, uncleanliness, and toil
Promote equality in all of my decisions
With a quick wink of the eye, and a
"God you must be joking!"

Hey mister Diplomat with your worldly aspirations
Did you see your children cry when you left them at the station?
Hey Moral Soldier, you've got righteous proclamations
And precious tomes to fuel your pulpy conflagrations

And I wanna conquer the world
Give all the idiots a brand new religion
Put an end to poverty, uncleanliness, and toil
Promote equality in all of my decisions

I want to conquer the world
Expose the culprits and feed them to the children
Do away with air pollution and then I'll save the whales
We'll have peace on earth and global communion!

I wanna conquer the world
I want to conquer the world
I wanna conquer the world
I want to conquer the world!

  1. Hi Ben,
It seems this band is controversial (never heard of them). Even if the lyrics have a message, it's not a fair one, since it seems the band is only addressing one religious philosophy when there are hundreds of religions out there. I will stop here since this can turn into a political discussion and I hate politics.

  2. I dig it. :D The lyrics anyways. I think it's perfect for 9/11 actually.

  3. I do agree that they aim only at one religion, but I THINK that they are looking into their own backyard with their song. The whole WASP heritage thing. Also, I like how he pulls every realm of human philosophy on the same base floor. I might be wrong though. The lyrics are opened to interpretation.

What I like about the song is its spirit of defiance. It's questionnating the great bases of human evolution. To me, it's uplifting, I write about those things a lot.

Thanks for the comments, most appreciated.
