Charles Schultz is freaking out.
I know what you're thinking. An award for a book cover is not really a literary award. You're right, it's not. But a cover is an integral part of a novel "as a product" and great ones can make the different between picking up a book or not. It goes hand in hand. The Dead End Follies Award for Best Book Cover is given to the cover art that best embodies the spirit of the book without spoiling what's actually going on. Last year, Rodrigo Luff and Claudia Noble won for the cover of John Hornor Jacobs' SOUTHERN GODS. The nominees for this year are (click on the photos to enlarge)

I'm partial to the Blackbirds cover...but the Azreal Deception cover is pretty cool too.

Old Ghosts for me; Boden Steiner's cover is classic noir brought bang up to date.
Hate to vote against myself, but the Blackbirds cover is the freaking tits. Amazing design.
Just found this and spit out my coffee. I feel naked and ridiculous and more than humbled having my cover recognized in this group. Yeah, Joey Hi-Fi's cover, definitely "the freaking tits."
