Dead End Follies Awards 2012: Nominees for Best Book Cover

Charles Schultz is freaking out.

I know what you're thinking. An award for a book cover is not really a literary award. You're right, it's not. But a cover is an integral part of a novel "as a product" and great ones can make the different between picking up a book or not. It goes hand in hand. The Dead End Follies Award for Best Book Cover is given to the cover art that best embodies the spirit of the book without spoiling what's actually going on. Boden Steiner, for Nik Korpon's OLD GHOSTS

Joey Hi-Fi for Chuck Wendig's BLACKBIRDS

John Hornor Jacobs for Chad Rohrbacher's THE AZREAL DECEPTION

Amazing 15 for Chris F. Holm's DEAD HARVEST

So, which one is your favorite? Which one do you think deserves to win?

I'm a pop culture blogger and author living in Montreal, Canada with my better half Josie and my dog Scarlett. I am a proud member of author collective Zelmer Pulp and have about a dozen of short stories published to my resume.

  1. I'm partial to the Blackbirds cover...but the Azreal Deception cover is pretty cool too.

  2. Old Ghosts for me; Boden Steiner's cover is classic noir brought bang up to date.

  3. Hate to vote against myself, but the Blackbirds cover is the freaking tits. Amazing design.

  4. Just found this and spit out my coffee. I feel naked and ridiculous and more than humbled having my cover recognized in this group. Yeah, Joey Hi-Fi's cover, definitely "the freaking tits."

    Thanks, guys!

*I think I want to read The Azreal Deception. Seems right in my wheelhouse.
