The Greatest Hits Of Strange & Creepy (Internet Edition)

Testosterone is a funny thing. It sends you on a quest for the extreme that you cannot quite handle sometimes. Men don't have the self-preservation of instincts of women. They can't say "I'm not sure I want to see this" or "Let's not do this and live a little longer, shall we?". No, all men are capable of is to say "Fuck yeah, let's check this out" or "There is only one way to find out..." That's why the old saying goes "Behind every man, there is a woman". To check him out and make sure he doesn't die prematurely.

Yesterday afternoon, I was at work and Josie was too far away to stop me from my stupid male bravado.I went from checking out Cracked's list of creepy & unexplained broadcasts (which we will eventually talk about) to a Google search on the strangest and creepiest sites on the internet. I prepared a greatest hits presentation for you.

Tired.com

Very simple design as you may have notice. I send those guys an extensive email about why I was tired, going in great details about the white noise syndrome. The email has been through and I have yet to be answered. Maybe they are too tired to answer. I will keep you posted about a potential reply.

Lost

At first glance, that web site SEEMS like an Alternate Reality Game. I registered and got the usual email that comes with it:

The web site kept giving me "invalid password" when I tried to login. When I clicked on the "Lost password" link and entered my email...BOOM...I wasn't in the database. I send them an email reply. Two funny things I noted about Lost, when you back off from the main page, you're brought to these Wikiquotes:

Curiosity is only vanity. Most frequently we wish not to know, but to talk. We would not take a sea voyage for the sole pleasure of seeing without hope of ever telling.

-Blaise Pascal

AND

Curiosity killed the cat

-Anonymous

The second quote though is linked to another web site, which explains that curiosity can lead to dangerous situations. NOW WE'RE TALKING CREEPY! Other details, the blog is broken, the "about" section is empty and the "help" section gives you this:

How can I join?
Who are you?
Why did you make this game?
How do I get points?
When is the game going to end?
What happens if you lose?
Why is it called Lost? Does it have anything to do with the TV show?
If someone I invite loses the game, do I lose the 32 points that I got from them originally?
I tried to join, but it didn't allow me to.
I tried to upload a profile picture, but it didn't work.
Wtf?
Who is the girl in the picture at the top left of every page?
What is Level 2? Is there some dark secret you're not telling us?

Their message board is also full of non-sense. I'm going to keep persevere and keep you updated about this very dark and secret club.

Is It Christmas?

A pretty definite answer to the question. Interesting fact, the site has been updated since yesterday. I'll keep in mind to check it out on December 25th.

The Difference

This one is a piece of fiction and a darn good one. You have to be used to internet slang and aforementioned ARGs to get the whole idea of it. I wish I could write dialogue like this guy does.

Dead Drop

Similar to Hell, a private art site. It's just that their way of rejecting users is mildly creepy.

Operation Mindfuck

Is anyone else trying to decipher a potential message?

That's it for today kids. Feel free to send me your strange/creepy discoveries by comments or emails. There will be a sequel when I'll have a sufficient amount of messed up things to show you.
