Dead End Follies Awards 2012 - Best Book Cover, Funniest Book & Best Short Story

No. This is not winning Best Book Cover

It took me forever to nominate people for the 2012 Dead End Follies Awards, but I'll try to keep the winners wrapped up within two week, so we can arrive at the end of the year and have it done. Today, the award winners for Best Book Cover, Funniest Book and Best Short Story are announced. Without further ado...

Best Book Cover

Joey Hi-Fi, for Chuck Wendig's Blackbirds

For creating a visually stunning cover that is both a marketing perk and a deep, but subtle look at who Myriam Black is. The astonishing level of detail reveals Myriam to the prospective readers.

Funniest Book

Tobacco-Stained Mountain Goat, by Andrez Bergen
For its odd pace and its originality, which made the protagonist Floyd Maquina akin to Buster Keaton. Bergen's great range made the novel a deep and satisfying reading experience while remaining wild an unpredictable.

Best Short Story

Bullets & Fire, by Joe R. Lansdale

For its schooling of the reader on inner darkness and visceral feelings. Mr. Lansdale makes both action and violence weight-in heavy and yet they're all over his story, making this short a narrative of exception.

Congratulations to the winners!
