Dead End Follies Awards - The Winners (Complete List)

For those who have missed the Dead End Follies Awards last week, here is the complete list of the winners. The Awards are my very glamorous way to talk about and reward (somewhat) the best books I have read during the year. My reading year in 2011 was from December 15th 2010 to November 1st 2011. 2012 will be  from November 1st 2011 to November 1st 2012. Last year I had seventy-three books eligible, but this year because of my recently acquired Kindle, it might be considerably more. There are a lot of novellas and very short collections on the Kindle Store, so 2012 should be even more glamorous than 2011. Here's the list of winners, for your enjoyment and future references.

Best Book Cover - Rodrigo Luff & Claudia Noble for John Hornor Jacobs' SOUTHERN GODS
Funniest Book - Matthew McBride - FRANK SINATRA IN A BLENDER
Best Short Story - David Cranmer - CLOUDS IN A BUNKER in PULP INK.
Best Non-Fiction Book - David Foster Wallace - THIS IS WATER
Best Series - Josh Stallings for The Moses McGuire novels
Best New Book - Megan Abbott - THE END OF EVERYTHING
Best Crime Novel - Anthony Neil Smith - HOGDOGGIN'
Best Literary Novel - Jonathan Franzen - THE CORRECTIONS

Best Female Character - Octavia VanderPlaats in Anthony Neil Smith's CHOKE ON YOUR LIES
Best Male Character - Paul Little in Aaron Philip Clarke's THE SCIENCE OF PAUL

That concludes the festivities around the 2011 Dead End Follies Awards. In the meantime, you will have dozens of reviews to feed on until...

Next year, same Bat-time, same Bat-place!
