Skin - Kill Everything

I snatched this title right off Josie's playlist. Don't let the title scare you off pressing play, it's a smooth song. The lyrics are heavy, but the delivery is slow and graceful. Skin is the front-lady for rock band Skunk Anansie and KILL EVERYTHING is part of her solo effort. I think it was originally written for the soundtrack of french movie L'EMPIRE DES LOUPS, which is a bizarre mix. The song is beautiful nonetheless. Really highlights how differently men and women live through adversity. If this song was composed by a man, it would have been violent, dramatic and may or may not have involved battle axe guitar. Since it was written by a woman, it's quiet and understated, almost like a wordless stage play. Enjoy it, let it rock you on this beautiful Sunday.

 Skin - KILL EVERYTHING

There’s no point in being careful
I’ll burn bridges anyway

There’s no point in talking vicious
(I’ve) nothing cutting left to say

I’ve achieved my own survival
I’ve refined my own sweet hell

There’s no point in craving beauty
When you’ll tear me anyhow

If I look you in the eye
I swear I’ll die
‘Cos you kill everything you love

Should I scar my face
To find my peace
While you kill everything you love

There’s no point in sitting silent
There’s no reason to stay calm

I’ve no means to look resentful
(’Cos) everybody you will charm

(I’m) crowded out by stupid duty
Smothered dead by your distain

There’s no point in shouting angry
(’Cos) there’s no reason i should stay
