Sarah's Back To The Classics Challenge, Reloaded For 2012

Sarah Sullivan runs one of the tightest ships in the blogosphere. Her Back To The Classics challenge in 2011 was source of great enjoyment to me. It made me step out of my comfort zone as a reader and try things I would have probably never touched otherwise. There are many reasons to take Sarah's challenge. Here are some.

1)  C'mon, it's nine books only. What kind of reader are you? It's not a fifty books race of insanity that will fuck with your reading schedule, it's just fun

2) It will make you feel better, because it will make you pick up books that you've been procrastinating on for YEARS. You will be finally able to say: "I've read that one".

3)Planning and hunting for books is a lot of fun.

I will leave you to go to her blog to sign up and read the rules, but I will share the nine categories she chose for this year.

Any 19th Century Classic (last year was a disaster, so let's try to do better this time)

Any 20th Century Classic

Reread a classic of your choice

A Classic Play (there's this play I've been juggling around for years, IT'S GONNA HAPPEN)

Classic Mystery/Horror/Crime Fiction

Classic Romance (!!!)

Read a Classic that has been translated from its original language to your languange - To clarify, if your native language is NOT English, you may read any classic originally written in English that has been translated into your native language.

Classic Award Winner - To clarify, the book should be a classic which has won any established literary award.

Read a Classic set in a Country that you (realistically speaking) will not visit during your lifetime - To Clarify, this does not have to be a country that you hope to visit either. Countries that no longer exist or have never existed count.

I will announce my choices next week along with the official announcement for my SMOOTH CRIMINALS reading challenge, which will be launched on November 15th. Meanwhile, go to Sarah's place and register for her challenge! It's going to whip you into reading shape.
