What are you looking for, homie?

25 Wishes for 2012

Wishes, goales, projects, whatever. Here are twenty-five things I want to happen in 2012, whether I have control on it or not (I totally borrowed the number twenty-five from Chuck Wendig). Because the first form of control over your life is to know what you want, so that you can own up to it. I encourage you to answer on your own blog and turn this into a meme. The only rule is that it has to relate to your life from near or far. You can't wish for world peace.

1) Finding the strength to write a fiction over a hundred pages long and be satisfied enough with it to shop it around. Fuck that "Delete" button.

2) Finding peace of mind regarding my housing situation. It's almost done, but like Yogi Berra said: "It ain't over 'til it's over".

3) That GRAND THEFT AUTO 5 will be released in 2012.

4) That Hollywood starts rebooting good franchises that still have untapped potential or you know, start producing original movies.

5) Travel with Josie again. To a crazier, more exotic destination than ever. I'm looking at you, North Africa.

6) Having a vision or a divine intervention of some sort, that would indicate me what to do with my life, professionally. Because if you don't any direction to walk towards, you don't go very far.

7) Focus. I already cut down on Twitter, Facebook and the social medias in general, because they turned me into an ADD stricken child. I want to make that zen writing state more stable. Right now it's very volatile, like a soap bubble. I'd like to turn it into a dodgeball.

8) That Bad Religion stops in Montreal on their own now. I'd love to see them, but no way I'd sit through the Vans Warped. Not in the state punk rock is today.

9) Start making money from writing. Just a little bit. Going over the three digits milestone for example would be great.

10) That Dead End Follies becomes a household name for reviews and pop culture discussion. It's well on its way, but you know. May 2012 be the clincher.

11) A regular training schedule, no matter how thin it is. I just want it to be regular

12) Zero sleep disorders issues during the whole year. Healthy sleep is the cornerstone of good productivity.

13) A home for every Lowell Sweeney stories.

14) That somehow, an executive guy buys out LIE TO ME from FOX and gives it a second life. It's a great show with infinite possibilities.

15) A brutal and fitting conclusion to BREAKING BAD.

16) That Thomas Mulcair wins the NDP leadership race, so that we can keep having ONE reasonable guy in Canadian politics. One guy we can vote for without feeling raped by the lack of possibilities.

17) A drastic raise in aneurysms and heart diseases for American bankers. If law doesn't catch up to them, hopefully nature will.

18) A real writing office.

19) New novels by Dennis Lehane and James Ellroy

20) Read writers like Tom Piccirilli, Dave Zeltserman, Scott Phillips and Roger Smith, who look like they are totally up my alley, but who are more difficult to come by.

21) A good, eye-opening workshop or a critique group.

22) Get an agent (we'll see about a book deal, this is a different animal)

23) Lose fifteen pounds.

24) Take the train at least once and try to sleep in it, to see if it's as comfortable as in my dreams.

25) December 22nd 2012. Because there are too many things left to do for the Apocalypse to happen.

We'll come back to it and see what has been accomplish at the end of 2012, if I lived through the year to talk about it.
